What Coterion is
Coterion is software that lets a private community run its own membership and home-sharing under its own name. Each community sets who it admits, its house rules, and its dues. Coterion provides the platform; it does not own or operate the communities on it.
Your membership belongs to a community
You join a specific community, and that community controls your admission and standing. Its house rules apply to you, alongside these terms. Lose good standing there, for a rule violation or lapsed dues, and you lose access.
Introductions and stays are between members
The platform introduces members and, once both agree, shares contact details so a stay can be arranged. Every stay (dates, price, money, keys) is a private arrangement directly between the host and the guest. Coterion is not a party to it, does not handle the payment for it, and provides no insurance, guarantee, or vetting of any home or person.
Hosts and guests are responsible for themselves
Hosts decide who crosses their threshold and on what terms, and are responsible for their own home. Guests are responsible for treating a home as their own, and for what happens if they don't. You take part at your own risk.
Dues and payments
Communities set their own dues and the price of admission. When Coterion processes a payment, it does so through Stripe; refunds follow the community's stated terms. Coterion never sees or stores your full card number.
Acceptable use
Use the platform only for your own membership and within your community's rules. Don't post on others' behalf, misrepresent yourself, scrape or attack the service, or use it for anything unlawful.
Ending access
A community, or Coterion, may suspend or end access for a violation of these terms or a community's rules. Serious violations end membership without a second warning and without a refund.
No warranty; limits on liability
The platform is provided as-is, without warranties. To the fullest extent the law allows, Coterion is not liable for member arrangements, for anything that happens during a stay, or for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes
These terms may change as the platform grows; material changes will be posted here with a new effective date. Continuing to use Coterion after a change means you accept it.
